COLLA VOCE

Colla Voce are the Worcester-based vocal group, whose sell-out concerts
and performances have been wowing audiences across the Midlands
for the past seven years. The group was formed in 1999, and toured theatres around the Midlands, performing 'Concert 2k'; an evening of songs from musical theatre, celebrating the last millenium and the beginning of the new. A further successful concert at Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire, in 2000, proved to be their swan song, and they reluctantly went their separate ways, until being reformed in the spring of 2001, after a chance meeting, large pizza and several bottles of cheap white wine. Their first major engagement was a charity concert for the Mayor of Worcester, held at the Swan Theatre, Worcester, in October 2001, and since then, the group have gone on to perform across the country at a diverse selection of bars, churches, halls, theatres, and a mill. Their most prestigious engagement to date, has been a variety show at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London. |
As well as songs from the musicals, Colla Voce have branched out into other arenas, such as film music, jazz, swing, blues and gospel, and hope that by offering a wider selection of song styles and types, they will be able to please more of the audience by the end of an evening.
| The group
has also been dipping a hesitant musical toe into the waters if
international language, and popping the occasional non-english song into
an evenings entertainment. So far, some of their singers have
managed to perform in Hebrew, Italian, Dutch, Gaelic, French, Hungarian,
Latin, Spanish and even Elvish! Their most recent linguistic
triumphs have been singing in Serbo-Croat for a film sound track,
released in 2004, and as the 'Chorus of Hell', for the fantasy film,
'Soul Searcher'. However, whatever happens, Colla Voce continue to rehearse on a regular basis, and are performing at several venues during the coming months, but, whatever the venue (and weather), the group still stick to their motto of - singing anything (almost), anywhere (within reason), anytime (virtually). 'Colla Voce would grace any London stage and more '. Review of performance at Countess of Huntingdon Hall, Worcester. 23rd March 2003.
